Dr. Adams and his team perform over 400 mitral valve repair procedures annually, and he is the highest volume valve surgeon in New York State, according to the past several years' NYS Department of Health public outcomes reports. The report also note that The Mount Sinai Hospital's program overall performs more valve surgery than any other in the state.

Dr. Adams and The Mount Sinai Hospital both also received the highest safety rating from the NYS Department of Health for cardiac surgery for the past several years.

Our team has written and contributed to the textbooks and academic journals which define the field of mitral valve repair and heart valve surgery. Dr. Adams is the coauthor of the widest selling valve textbook in the world, Carpentier's Reconstructive Valve Surgery, and the co-editor of the reference textbook Cardiac Surgery in the Adult.

Teaching Excellence to Others

Over 500 surgeons, of all levels of experience, have come to Mount Sinai to learn advanced reconstructive mitral valve repair techniques from Dr. Adams and his team in the Mitral Foundation Center. We regularly lead mitral valve repair workshops around the globe and, to date, have educated surgeons from over 60 countries.
