Dr. Adams: Your wife is an Intensive Care Nurse, and I know that you guys looked at a lot of information and you told me that your cardiologist was not all that enthusiastic about you having a mitral valve repair at this time for your cardiomyopathy-related regurgitation. So I am just curious how you guys came to decide to have it and pursue an operation anyway.

Mr. Fierro: It seems the reasonable thing to do to have it fixed. If the problem is the leaky valve and we are going to go all the way around it and not fix the problem and try to treat it with medicine, which I am not crazy about to begin with…I have had an ablation, and after the ablation, they put me on all types of medications, I felt terrible on those medications. Now we wanted to find an alternative way to deal with this problem if it was possible.
