Dr. David Adams teaching cardiac surgery fellows how to perform mitral valve surgery on a porcine model.

Cultivating new entrants into the field of cardiac surgery is more important than ever. Supporting mentoring our current trainees is critical to demonstrate our commitment to education. This year, we have an opportunity to provide a new and unique educational program to cardiac surgery fellows. The fellows will actively participate and be asked to respond to questions similar to clinical practice and examinations. The program is organized around practical case presentations addressing the surgical management of aortic valve disease, aortic root pathology and aneurysms, mitral and tricuspid valve disease, CABG, reoperations, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure. This comprehensive program is designed with the following objectives in mind:

  • To provide fellows with practical surgical techniques, clinical judgment and outcome information.
  • To provide a forum for discussing technical challenges and controversies.
  • To present clinical and professional information relevant to surgeons who will soon be entering practice.
