Dr. Corey Scurlock, the Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgical Intensive Care Unit, completed his residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he was the chief resident in anesthesiology. He then completed a fellowship in critical care medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. During his training in Boston he was trained in all aspects of intensive care medicine with a special emphasis in postoperative ventilatory and hemodynamic management as well as pain control During his time in Boston he published papers and performed research on patient safety. He joined the faculty at Mount Sinai in July 2004.

 

Dr. Scurlock’s clinical interests include all aspects of critical care medicine with a special emphasis on nutrition of the critically ill, patient safety, blood pressure management and optimum sedation protocols after cardiac surgery.
